Horror History: THE COTTAGE Was Released on This Day in 2008

One of the most underrated British horror movies of the mid-2000s, The Cottage, was released on this day in 2008. The film, written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams, stars Andy Serkis, Reece Shearsmith, and Jennifer Ellison.

While many mobster movies attempt to venture into genre territory, The Cottage is a true hybrid incorporating hardcore gangster tropes with legitimate horror. It’s also hilarious! If it’s been a while, or if you’ve never experienced the film for yourself, check out the trailer and synopsis for The Cottage below.

Synopsis:
Kidnapper brothers David and Peter are quickly outsmarted by their loudmouth hostage. She escapes into the woods, but it’s not long before that is the least of their problems.

Trivia:
The man with the dog who speaks to David when he goes to the village telephone Is Doug Bradley, better known as ‘Pinhead’ In the Hellraiser film franchise. (Source)
