John Carpenter Really Wants to Work with Kurt Russell Again

The last time John Carpenter and Kurt Russell hooked up it was for Escape from New York sequel Escape from L.A. in 1996. But today, Carpenter admits he still really wants to work with Kurt Russell (Big Trouble in Little China) again.

Carpenter tells NME: “There’s a whole lot that I haven’t worked with. Jennifer Lawrence, she’s a brilliant actress. Amy Adams – brilliant actress. I would love to work with them, but chances of that are kind of slim. You just don’t know what’s going to happen. I’d also really like to work with Kurt Russell again. That would be fun. We had such a good time working together.”

While Escape from L.A. was their last, their best flick is The Thing. Russell stars as a resourceful helicopter pilot in remote Antarctica, where a group of scientists is disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both humans and canines and they discover the beast can assume the shape of its victims. Russell leads the crew in a desperate, gory battle against the vicious creature before it picks them all off, one by one.

The Thing sports an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Grimmer and more terrifying than the 1950s take, Carpenter’s The Thing is a tense sci-fi thriller rife with compelling tension and some remarkable make-up effects.
