Horror History: Happy Birthday STRANGER THINGS Creators, The Duffer Brothers
On this day in horror history, Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer aka The Duffer Brothers were born in Durham, North Carolina in 1984.
On top of creating the classic Netflix series, the Duffers also wrote and produced episodes for the Fox mystery sci-fi series Wayward Pines. The series was based on the novels by Blake Crouch. Chad Hodge developed them for television. M. Night Shyamalan (Glass, Split, Unbreakable) directed the pilot.
They also wrote and directed the fright flick Hidden in 2015. It centers on a family living inside a fallout shelter who faces a mysterious threat from the outside. Alexander Skarsgard (The Stand, True Blood) starred. Andrea Riseborough (The Grudge, Possessor) joined with Emily Alyn Lind (Doctor Sleep, Babysitter 2).

On a fun side note, Ross Duffer married Honeymoon and Fear Street director Leigh Janiak back in December 2015. That’s going to make for one talent kid(s)!
The brothers serve as showrunners and are executive producers on Stranger Things. The series is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The first season focused on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy (Will Byers). Not to mention supernatural events occurring around the town, including the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities (Millie Bobby Brown).
