Director Still Really Wants to Make HAPPY DEATH DAY 3

Blumhouse’s Happy Death Day is a classic. And today and Christopher Landon – yet again – lets us know he’s still up for a third film featuring Jessica Rothe.

Landon tells ComingSoon: “Well, look it’s funny like the crossover thing is certainly a fun idea and I think that people are very into this sort of shared universe concept. But, I really, first and foremost, had wanted and continue to want to make a third movie in the Happy Death Day franchise just because I wrote an idea.:

He continues: “I didn’t write the whole script, I’m not that crazy. But I had outlined a third movie because I really knew what I wanted it to be and it was sort of the conclusion to it. It was a trilogy for me, so it’s a bummer that I haven’t had the opportunity yet to make that movie. I know Jessica Rothe really wants to do it.”

Happy Death Day centered on a blissfully self-centered collegian. She wakes up on her birthday with the eerie feeling that she’s experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she magically wakes up unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her.

Happy Death Day 2U then finds Tree waking up in horror to learn she’s stuck in a parallel universe. Her boyfriend, friends, and fellow students seem to be different versions of themselves. Tree discovers Carter’s roommate has been altering time. Now she finds herself once again targeted by a masked killer. When the psycho stalks her inner circle, Tree realizes she must die over and over to save everyone.
