Ryan Murphy is treating fans to a bit of a “Six Feet Under” reunion as Frances Conroy returns to “American Horror Story” for Chapter 2, entitled “Asylum,” joining her former “SFU” co-star James Cromwell in the new season. She previously played fan favorite Moira in Chapter 1 of the show.
As with everyone else who’s returning for Round 2, Conroy’s character this year will be nothing like what she played before. Here’s how Murphy tweeted about her return: “Thrilled to announce Emmy nominee Frances Conroy is returning to AHS. Devils and angels this year…Frannie plays the ultimate angel.”
Other returning cast members for “American Horror Story: Asylum,” include Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe with the newbies being Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan, Clea DuVall, James Cromwell, Franka Potente, Mark Consuelos, Lizzie Brochere, Joseph Fiennes, ChloĆ« Sevigny, and Chris Zylka.

Set at an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane, the upcoming Chapter 2 begins October 17th and revolves around Lange’s new character — a nun — and her boss at the institution, played by Cromwell, and is about sanity and tackling real-life horrors.
