Horror History: RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER Opened in 2016
On this day in horror history, the sixth and final film in the Resident Evil series Resident Evil: The Final Chapter with Milla Jovovich hit theaters back in 2016.
It kicks off with the T-virus spreading to every corner of the globe. Now the planet sports an infestation of zombies, demons, and monsters. Alice (Jovovich), joins her friends on a last-chance mission. They storm the company’s headquarters deep under old Raccoon City. But the Red Queen (Ever Anderson) knows that Alice is coming, and the final battle will determine if the rest of mankind lives or dies.
Milla Jovovich stars along with Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, Eoin Macken, and Fraser James. Ruby Rose joined the cast along with Rola, William Levy, and Ali Larter.

The filmmakers shot the flick in 2D and post-converted it to stereoscopic 3D.
The film sports a 37% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Resident Evil: The Final Chapter may prove mind-numbingly chaotic for the unconverted, but for fans of the venerable franchise, it offers a fittingly kinetic conclusion to its violent post-apocalyptic saga.
Despite the meh reviews, the movie is the highest-grossing film in the franchise. In fact, it earned over $312M worldwide against a $40M budget. That said, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter only managed to gross $26.8M here in the United States.
