Broke Horror Fan will release Host on limited edition, fully-functional VHS on Tuesday, February 2nd. The VHS comes with two variants to choose from: the standard edition with art by Neil Fraser and a variant with art by Eileen Steinbach.
For optimal VHS viewing, they have cropped the film from its original aspect ratio to 4:3 full frame. It is officially licensed from RLJE Films and has been approved by director Rob Savage. Stay tuned after the movie for a behind-the-scenes featurette.
Another new title will be announced next week.
Savage shot the film remotely during quarantine features groundbreaking scares, stunts, and surprises, all filmed by the actors in their own homes. Due to social distancing precautions, Savage never set foot in the same room as his actors at any point during production and instead directed them remotely.
The film stars Haley Bishop (Deep State), Radina Drandova (Dawn of the Deaf), Edward Linard (The Rebels), Jemma Moore (Doom: Annihilation), Caroline Ward (Stalling It) and Emma Louise Webb (The Crown), who also operated their own cameras, helped pull off their own practical effects, and lit their own scenes.
Rob Savage directed Host from a script he wrote with Gemma Hurley and Jed Shepherd. Savage and Shepherd also serve as executive producers. Douglas Cox produced with Craig Engler, Emily Gotto, Jed Shepherd, and Samuel Zimmerman.
The killer fright flick sports a perfect 100% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Lean, suspenseful, and scary, Host uses its timely premise to deliver a nastily effective treat for horror enthusiasts.
I check out the flick recently and found it to be a lot of fun. It’s currently streaming exclusively on Shudder. Second Sight will unleash it on Blu-ray in February.
