Original Director Is Very Proud of New GHOSTBUSTERS

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife with Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Paul Rudd suffered a delay due to COVID-19. It will now hit theaters this June. And today we hear original director Ivan Reitman is very proud of the new film.

The little Reitman tells Empire: “My father [Ivan Reitman] hasn’t been leaving the house much because of Covid. But he took a test, put on a mask, and drove down to the Sony lot to watch the movie with the studio. And after, he cried, and he said, ‘I’m so proud to be your father.’ And it was one of the great moments of my life.”

Aww.

Dan Aykroyd will return as Ray in the new film along with Bill Murray as Peter, Sigourney Weaver as Dana, Ernie Hudson as Winston, and Annie Potts as Janine. Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd join them.

The new movie tells the tale of a single mother and her two children. They notice something strange in their neighborhood of Summerville, Oklahoma. So they team with a seismologist school teacher to investigate the paranormal happenings.

The last time we saw the (original) team on the big screen was in Ghostbusters II. It began after the Ghostbusters are disbanded for demolishing parts of the city during a battle. Then Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) learns that spirits have taken an interest in Dana’s son. And the men launch a rogue ghost-chasing mission.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is now set to arrive in theaters on June 11, 2021.
