Horror History: Happy F*cking Birthday, ROB ZOMBIE!

On this day in horror history, Robert Cummings aka Rob Zombie was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1965.

Rob Zombie started out as the frontman of White Zombie. During that time, he produced classic albums such as Soul-Crusher and Make Them Die Slowly. Not to mention La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume One, and Astro-Creep: 2000.

His solo careers included hits such as Hellbilly Deluxe, The Sinister Urge, and Educated Horses. He also produced Hellbilly Deluxe 2, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, and The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser. His next album, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy hits this year.

Zombie also directed such classics as House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween, Halloween II, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and The Lords of Salem. Not to mention unfortunate recent misfires such as 3 From Hell and 31.

Rob Zombie’s first (and best) flick was House of 1,000 Corpses.

The horror-comedy stars Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Sheri Moon. Inspired by The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, it follows two couples lead down a terror-riddled road to a house of horror. There they are kidnapped and tortured by a psychotic family on Halloween.

Rated R for sexuality, language, strong sadistic gore, strong sadistic violence, it sports a 20% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: There’s an abundance of gore in this derivative horror movie, but little sense or wit.
