Showtime’s upcoming limited series Dexter revival hits next year. And today we hear Pet Sematary Two actor Clancy Brown has joined as the main villain.
Brown will play Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of small-town Iron Lake.
Showtime’s official character description goes like this: Caldwell realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.
Marcos Siega will helm six of the revival’s ten episodes. He will also executive produce with Hall. John Goldwyn will too with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, returns as well.
Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. said in a statement: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”
Production begins soon with a premiere set for fall 2021.
