Video: THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION Gets the “Honest Trailer” Treatment

The folks a Screen Junkies have amassed legions of followers for their snarky yet spot-on assessments of today’s biggest genre offerings in the form of “Honest Trailers”. The irony of “Honest Trailers” is that they arrive too late to give us a truly objective look at the films we spend our hard-earned dollars on… but it’s all in good fun.

Their latest subject is The Shawshank Redemption, directed by Frank Darabont and based on the short story by Stephen King. Released in 1994, the film stars Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, and Bob Gunton. So how does the film hold up after a quarter-century? Give the video a spin below to find out!

Synopsis:
Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the murders of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to a tough prison. However, only Andy knows he didn’t commit the crimes. While there, he forms a friendship with Red (Morgan Freeman), experiences brutality of prison life, adapts, helps the warden, etc., all in 19 years.
