Carol Sutton: TRUE DETECTIVE Actress Dies of COVID Complications

“You know Carcosa? He who eats time. His robes, it’s a wind of invisible voices. Rejoice, death is not the end. Death is not the end. Rejoice, Carcosa.”

The first season of HBO’s True Detective is one of the best seasons of TV ever. And one of our favorite moments comes when an old woman comes out of her stupor to tell Rust and Marty the scary-ass lines above. It’s also a super-creepy moment.

And it comes to us from actress Carol Sutton. Sadly, we hear Sutton died Thursday in New Orleans of complications of coronavirus infection at the age of 76.

Friend and local theater director Tommye Myrick said: “Among actors in New Orleans, there was Carol Sutton – and there was everybody else.”

David Cuthbert, a retired critic for the New Orleans Times also added: “She opened her mouth, and out came truth. Wherever she was on stage, that was center stage.”

Sutton’s genre contributions include roles in Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, The Last Exorcism, and American Horror Story: Coven. Also, Killer Joe, Scream Queens, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Not to mention Scream: The TV Series.

True Detective season one focuses on Louisiana State Police homicide detectives Rustin “Rust” Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin “Marty” Hart (Harrelson), who investigated the murder of prostitute Dora Lange in 1995. Seventeen years later, they must revisit the investigation, along with several other unsolved crimes.
