Comedy Sequel COMMANDO NINJA II: INVASION AMERICA Promises Even More Over-The-Top Action

Back in 2018, a martial arts action film called Commando Ninja was released on YouTube. Despite only running for 68 minutes, it contained everything from dinosaurs to sword fights, so it quickly developed a cult following and amassed over five million views. We also awarded it a positive review, calling it “a fun and brutal 1980s throwback”.

Following on from the success of Commando Ninja, a Kickstarter campaign has now been launched to finance a sequel called Commando Ninja II: Invasion America. The sequel will once again be directed by Benjamin Combes, but unlike the first film, it will mainly be shot on location instead of using a green screen. If the campaign reaches its £44,594 goal, the plan is to film in Utah and Thailand, with a strong focus on practical effects instead of CGI, meaning we can expect plenty of over-the-top gore. The Kickstarter campaign also promises dinosaurs, zombies, and mutants, so horror fans should be satisfied.

Commando Ninja II: Invasion America will take place in the retro-futuristic setting of 1988, with the titular hero needing to defend America from a communist invasion. The story will unfold across the United States and Vietnam, with some of the original cast from the first film returning. This includes Eric Carlesi as John Hunter, the titular sword-wielding soldier, with Philippe Allier and Stéphane Asensio also set to reprise their respective roles as Air Force Colonel Leeroy Hopkins and cyborg warrior Oskar Kowalsky. And best of all, composer Thomas Cappeau will be returning to create some incredible synthwave tunes which fans will love.

The Kickstarter campaign for Commando Ninja II: Invasion America has currently reached just over half its goal, and with over two weeks left, there’s still plenty of time left to contribute. Judging from what we know so far, it sounds like this film will be an instant cult classic, so you should definitely help to make it a reality if you can.
