Motion Picture Purgatory: Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead

Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead had its Canadian premiere during the Fantasia International Film Festival, and Trembles came back with a Motion Picture Purgatory review for the film from mad genius Noboru Iguchi. Check it out!
Subtitled TOILET OF THE DEAD, this episode of excremental excess from Noboru Iguchi (MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD, last year’s KARATE-ROBO ZABORGAR) is grindhouse as all hell, from the hilarious trailer and funky opening credits to its references to cult-film classics like RE-ANIMATOR and SPIDER BABY and its delicious early-’80s score (SUSPIRIA meets HALLOWEEN). Throw in some flashback bullying, numerous butt cracks, monsters care of FX freak Yoshihiro Nishimura, tentacle erotica (!), and some Cronenberg-style body-horror in a Troma vernacular (read: plenty of kinky nudity and cheap gore galore), and you get the idea here (sort of). The cast includes usual Sushi Typhoon suspects such as Asami from Iguchi’s MACHINE GIRL, TOKYO GORE POLICE’s Tenkaro Kishi, and their friends Kentaro Shimazu and Demo Tanaka (both also seen in Iguchi’s ROBO-GEISHA as well). With its below-the-belt humour and outrageous toilet gore, this messy, taboo-busting new Sushi Typhoon flick will have the midnight crowd laughing its ass off, that’s for sure. Better put on a diaper, just in case.
