Josh C. Waller and Rachel Nichols Enter The Dungeon of Deadly DelightsHey there, everyone. We have yet another incredible episode of The Dungeon for you along with a bit of unfortunate news as well. First off, I want to thank Creepy and the entire Dread crew for all the support and love.

I want to say thank you to the thousands of fans we have love from around the world, and I cannot forget to thank all of our amazing sponsors who believed in us, and of course my “Terror Team” of Thomas Surprenant, Amy Lynes, and Linnea Quigley.

Guys, I absolutely love and appreciate all of you, but due to inner conflicts stemming from other hosts in the Jackalope “family”, I agreeably pulled the show. We were not fired, and there is no bad blood, just want to make that clear. And we all feel we left on a very high career note and are very hungry to continue the journey into the dark woods. Anyway, on with the last show!

This week I had the pleasure of working solo with one of my favorite women and new co-host, the beloved Linnea Quigley, and if that was not enough, we ended our July with a cool new feature director, Josh C. Waller. Josh was in The Dungeon to speak a little about his new movie Raze, which is going to be awesome! Also, I spoke to one of my other favorite genre women, and incidentally biggest crushes, one of the stars of Raze, Rachel Nichols!

I think that’s a pretty damn good high note, don’t you? Know this, everyone. My team has everything set up. The chess board has not been thrown. In the words of badass scholar Bane, “The fire is rising.” We will return stronger, badder, and ready to kick ass very soon! In the meantime check out this last show. Keep our memory alive and wait for the storm. It’s coming. I’ll scare ya later.

The Dungeon of Deadly Delights is brought to you by Forbidden Pictures as well as Creature Corps and the official Steph Sciullo website, along with Doug Bradley’s Spine Chillers, the film Raze, and clothing and apparel company Se7en Deadly.

Toho Planning “World of Godzilla” Shared Universe, SHIN GODZILLA 2 Dead

Published

on

Looks like Legendary Pictures “Monsterverse” won’t be the only Godzilla-themed shared universe for much longer. Once Hollywood’s King of the Monsters sequel setting up his 2020 remake with King Kong have come and gone, Toho intends to transform Godzilla into Japan’s very own Marvel cinematic universe.

Godzilla-Movies.com has provided an English translation of an interview that appeared this past week in the Japanese publication “Nikkei Style” with Keiji Ota, Toho’s Chief Godzilla Officer (How do I get that job?), about the future of all things Zilla in his home country. The surprising news begins with an announcement that might prove a disappointment to many G-Fans.

There will never be a Shin Godzilla 2.

Despite being a box office sensation and achieving a level of critical acclaim that typically eludes Godzilladom, including winning the Japanese equivalent of the Best Picture Oscar, Shin Godzilla will forever remain a decidedly unique one-off entry in the storied Godzilla series. As proud as Ota claims they are of Shin Godzilla’s success, Ota and the members of Toho’s Godzilla Strategy Council (Again, how do I get on this council?) have something bigger in mind for the future of the 64-year old franchise:
…a World of Godzilla.

To further quote Ota:
The future of the series and its forwarding developments are very conscious of the method of “shared universe”. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, etc. could all share a single world view much like a Marvel movie where Iron Man and the Hulk can crossover with each other. It is said that each movie can be a possible film production where any one of them could lead a film of their own as the titular character.

So, as of now, this is Toho’s plan: Marvel-style Godzilla features released on a consistent basis every 1-2 years beginning post-2021.

Why must we wait until 2021? Because the deal Toho structured with Legendary Pictures allowing for 2014’s Godzilla, next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and 2020’s “Monsterverse” crossover event Godzilla vs. Kong gave Toho wiggle room to make Shin Godzilla and the current animated film trilogy but nothing more cinematic until after the deal between the two production companies expires in 2020.

Neither Toho nor Legendary have said anything about how Toho’s planned “World of Godzilla” may impact future plans for Legendary’s “Monsterverse”, or for that matter, if there will even be a “Monsterverse” after King Kong and Godzilla have their historic clash of the titans. In both cases, stay tuned for further details.

Either way, Godzilla fans can rejoice in knowing the king is going to be around for a long, long time to come.

Personally, I’m hoping one of these “World of Godzilla” movies is a Gigan solo movie that finally portrays Gigan as the bad ass kaiju terminator he was always created to be.

Best Promo Stunt Ever: Deadpool Photobombs Predator, Terminator, and More

Published

on

We don’t usually cover Deadpool here on Dread Central, but I think this is a rare case where an exception must be made. After all, this is one of the best promotional gags I have ever seen for a film and it needs to be shared to be believed.

Fox has released a collection of their best-selling movies with Deadpool photobombing the covers, including Edward Scissorhands, Logan, Predator, and The Terminator.

They are as fucking delightful as they sound.

These Wal-Mart exclusive Blu-ray covers IGN reports are part of Fox Home Entertainment’s special Two Year Anniversary Blu-ray of Deadpool leading up to the release of the sequel later this week.

I don’t know about you but there is a genuine part of me that wants to go out and snag each and every single one of these on Blu-ray. These are going to be classics one day and sell for hundreds online. That’s if everyone doesn’t just buy them and not open them. Which could totally happen.

Will you be snagging any of these classic titles with the Deadpool photobombs? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The full list of movies included in the promotion are:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Cast Away
  • Edward Scissorhands
  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
  • Logan
  • My Cousin Vinny
  • Office Space
  • Predator
  • Revenge of the Nerds
  • Speed
  • The Terminator
  • War for the Planet of the Apes
  • X-Men Apocalypse

The series co-stars Rupert Evans, Ser’Darius Blain, Charlie Gillespie, and Ellen Tamaki. It’s developed by Jennie Snyder Urman (Jane the Virgin), who executive produces alongside Jessica O’Toole, Amy Rardin, Brad Silberling, Ben Silverman, and Carter Covington.

Are you looking forward to this reboot? Make sure to let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Synopsis:

“Stronger together.” That’s what Marisol tells her daughters, firebrand social justice warrior Melanie “Mel” Vera, and her sister, fun-loving Maggie, about their family. Mel is a graduate student in the women’s studies department her mother heads at Hilltowne University; Maggie is a freshman considering rushing a sorority (to Mel’s amused dismay) and going “on” again with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Brian. But then, a shocking tragedy shatters their world and threatens their sibling bond: Marisol dies in a horrifying accident. Or was it?

Three months later, we find Mel unable to accept the official explanation of their mother’s death, while Maggie accuses her of being morbidly obsessed. And then, another huge shock shows up at their front door: they have an older sister, brilliant geneticist Macy, whom their mother kept a secret all these years! Macy is new in town and doesn’t know a soul (except for Galvin, the cute fellow scientist who’s been showing her around). Macy is eager to connect with Mel and Maggie, but Mel can’t handle another shock and shuts her out.

With the emotions of all three sisters running high, each of the girls suddenly exhibits impossible new abilities: Mel can freeze time, Maggie starts hearing others’ thoughts, and Macy has telekinetic powers. But don’t worry, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation…or so says Harry Greenwood (who as far as they know is the officious new chair of the women’s studies department), when he gathers the three sisters together to reveal they’re actually powerful witches, as was their mother. And he’s not really a professor, he’s their “Whitelighter,” a witch’s advisor and guide! Not only that, but Mel was right: their mother’s death was no accident – she was murdered by unknown dark forces.

It’s a lot to take in, but ultimately the sisters accept their new destiny as The Charmed Ones…and their new duty to protect humankind from the demons that walk among us…one of whom killed their mother. With the Power of Three, they are stronger together… even if they have no idea what they’re really up against.
