Stephen King Offers Update on LISEY’S STORY Series with Julianne Moore & Clive Owen
Apple’s eight-episode limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story with Julianne Moore, Clive Owen, and Joan Allen is coming soon from J.J. Abrams.
And today King offered an update.
King tells The Washington Post: “I’m now working with a very talented director named Pablo Larraín on a limited series for Apple Plus called Lisey’s Story. He’s got a lot of ideas that don’t depart from the throughline of the story but are beautiful visual things, with a lot of energy involved. It’s like having more depth perception, because I’m like one eye and he’s the other eye. … If you’re going to really succeed in this business, get people you know are talented and then say, ‘Okay, I’m going to step back. I’m not going to be looking over your shoulder and fiddling in your stuff. Go ahead and do the stuff you’re good at doing.’“
Written and executive produced by Stephen King, the cast includes Julianne Moore and Clive Owen along with the likes of Joan Allen, Dane DeHaan, and Sung Kang.
The story centers on a woman who lost her husband two years ago, after a twenty-five-year marriage of profound and frightening intimacy. He was an award-winning, bestselling novelist and a very complicated man. Before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went—a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon.
Pablo Larrain (Jackie) directs from a series of scripts by King based on his novel of the same name. King, Moore, and Abrams executive produce with Ben Stephenson.
