POLICE ACADEMY’s Steve Guttenberg Returns to Screens with Dark Cameo in New Horror Flick HECKLE

Steve Guttenberg who starred in a string of eighties hits from Police Academy, to Cocoon, to Three Men and a Baby and Short Circuit, is set to make a return to screens with a dark cameo in the horror movie Heckle which has its premiere at the Halloween edition of Frightfest, the Uk’s largest genre festival.

The film is about a stand-up comedian being stalked by a seemingly insane heckler. Director Martyn Pick, and writer Airell Hayles set out to invoke not only traditional eighties slasher movies, but also Giallo cinema aesthetics.

Synopsis:
A stand up comedian encounters a seemingly insane heckler, who becomes his stalker. This is a heckle on a whole new level…

Heckle was made after the writer/ director team had a hit with the short werewolf horror/ comedy film Blue Moon that played ScreamFest in Hollywood at the end of a successful festival run, and the creative team wanted to make a feature horror together. Voodoo films later came on as partners to bring Heckle to life. The premise of a stand- up comedian going too far with an audience member was an exciting premise, and the story and character of Ray Kelly caught the eye of Steve Guttenberg. Guttenberg remarks of the horror genre, “My fave is The Exorcist. Just for the sheer suspense. And Bill Friedkin. What a talent.”

Also in the film are Nicholas Vince (Hellraiser), television celebrity Dani Dyer, the late Clark Gable III (grandson of Gone with the Wind‘s Clark Gable), and Popstar Toyah Willcox.

The film will be out at noon on October 24th as part of the Halloween FrightFest digital edition- www.frightfest.co.uk

Airell Hayles, also one of the film producers, said of the project, “We’re delighted to have Steve Guttenberg involved. As a kid my family hired out Cocoon and Short Circuit on VHS over and over, so it really is a dream come true to have an eighties themed movie feature a cameo from an actor that was in a set of films that inspired Heckle to get made. What’s fun is seeing Steve Guttenberg bring out his dark side, having seen him play such a nice guy in all those movies. Audiences are in for a treat.”
