Stephen King Would Love to See Fourth Season of MR. MERCEDES
AT&T’s Audience Network’s three-season adaptation of Stephen King’s novel(s) Mr. Mercedes will be moving over to NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service as an exclusive. And today, King confesses he’d love to see a fourth season one day.
King tells EW: “I would love to see that happen. I think the actors would like to see it happen because they got into those parts. Actors have a way of doing that. They have a way of settling in — like into a new house. And then after a while, they’re really good at what they’re doing and dig deeper into the character. So I’d love to see it, but the three seasons are there and they’re pretty darn good.”
Then, when asked if there’s interest in doing a standalone Holly Gibneys series, King said: “I don’t think so. It’s really complicated because of the difference in the two storylines makes it difficult to figure out how that could possibly be done in the world of Richard Price’s creation of The Outsider. But if Mr. Mercedes was greenlit for a fourth season, that would be in the realm of possibility.”
Mr. Mercedes stars Harry Treadaway, Brendan Gleeson, Kelly Lynch, Jharrel Jerome, Mary-Louise Parker, Holland Taylor, Justine Lupe, Breeda Wool, Scott Lawrence, Jack Huston, Tessa Ferrer, Maximiliano Hernandez, and Nancy Travis.
The first season sports an 86% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Mr. Mercedes propels its tense, creepy narrative with quick-witted dialogue, strong characters, and terrifying surprises.
The first two seasons will hit Peacock all at once on October 15th. The third season will then premiere as a Peacock original series sometime in the future.
