Shocking/Timely Incel Horror GOOD GUY WITH A GUN Now Streaming on ALTER

Earlier today, ALTER released the powerful, deeply unsettling, and incredibly cinematic short film Good Guy with a Gun, directed by rising filmmaker Bryian Keith Montgomery Jr. Like all excellent horror, it’s certain to generate both important and uncomfortable conversations.

Check out the trailer and synopsis below. If what you see resonates, you can watch the entire 20-minute film below. Warning: It features realistic depictions of gun violence.

Synopsis:
An incel walks us through his newfound epiphany on why he decided to buy a gun.

Director’s Statement:
Good Guy with a Gun is an exercise in toxic masculinity from the perspective of a narcissistic incel who under no circumstances should own a gun. In true ALT-Horror fashion, the film plays out like a satire that’s funny but at the same time is horrific and starts a conversation about Gun Control and masculinity in America. The film’s pace is that of an epiphany. Much like the film High Fidelity, our protagonist Alrick takes us through his thoughts and treats us as if we’re an omniscient character. The film is important to me because it deals with one of my biggest fears, which is gun violence.

Bryian Keith Montgomery Jr. is an up-and-coming African American film director and LA native. He created the brand “Alternative Horror” in 2016 to infuse current events into his horror films, and highlight touchy issues in American culture through a unique lens.

His previous short film, Chickens, dealt with police brutality and institutionalized racism. It’s been shown in film festivals around the world, and has proven to be a crowd favorite, having taken home “The Audience Award” multiple times. Bryian feels that he can use horror genre tropes to make social commentary and further extend his voice as an activist. He believes that people should come to the movies for thrills and leave with new insight on the topic he’s canvassing.

Good Guy with a Gun stars Patrick Hogue, Nicole Murray, Everson Pierce, Brian Ramian, Christine Lutete, Jerry Parker Jr., and Burtis Cutler.
