Antique Vampire Hunter Kit Sells for Big Bucks at British AuctionLast week an antique vampire hunting kit, dated sometime in the late 1800’s, sold for £7,500 at a British auction house, or over $11,000 in US money! Sounds like a lot of cheddar, but if a vamp shows up at your house and something in this set works, those 11G’s will seem like a bargain!

Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, sold the antique Victorian casket supply chest containing real-life vampire slaying supplies. Included in the set was an ornate antique pistol with a mold for making silver bullets. There were supply bottles containing garlic, holy water and consecrated ground. Also in the set was the Book of Common Prayers prayer book, rosary beads, a crucifix and a handwritten extract of bible quotes, including Luke 19:27, which reads, “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”.

Finally, hidden in the bottom of the chest, were the heavy hitters…a mallet with four wooden stakes.

It’s thought the piece was possibly inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which was written in 1897 The kit was expected to fetch between $1,500 and $3,000 so to bring in $11K was a pleasant surprise for everyone involved.
