Homelander From THE BOYS Encounters BRIGHTBURN Supervillain Brandon Breyer In Stunning New Fan Art

A terrific new live-action fan art image depicts Homelander from The Boys facing off against Brightburn, the evil teenage supervillain from the acclaimed film of the same name. Since both characters can fly, they are shown to be meeting high above the clouds, and we can only dream of the epic battle which subsequently took place between the two superpowered psychopaths. Queen Maeve, who also appears in The Boys as a member of the superhero team known as The Seven, can be seen in the corner of the image alongside Homelander, and we imagine she would have helped him take down Brightburn. The image, which is embedded below, was created by Instagram user axel___pc, who is clearly a very talented visual designer.

The Boys is currently one of Amazon’s most popular shows, with the second season having just debuted to spectacular viewing figures. Based on the comic series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, it takes place in a world where superheroes are nothing more than selfish and corrupt narcissists working for a corrupt mega-corporation known as Vought International. Played by Antony Starr, Homelander was basically a psychotic version of Superman, while Queen Maeve, who is played by Dominique McElligott, was clearly based on Wonder Woman and is also by far the most reasonable and level-headed superhero in the entire series.

Brightburn, on the other hand, grossed $32 million at the global box office last year. This may seem like a modest amount at first, but considering the film’s modest production budget of $6 million, its box office earnings were more than enough for it to be a financial success. Directed by David Yarovesky, the movie served as a twisted retelling of Superman’s origin story, with Jackson A. Dunn starring as Brandon Breyer/Brightburn, an evil extraterrestrial teenage boy with incredible powers. Producer James Gunn has hinted that a sequel could be developed, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
