Vertical Entertainment Snags Rights to THE TRUE ADVENTURES OF WOLFBOY

Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to The True Adventures of Wolfboy, starring Jaeden Martell (Knives Out), Chloë Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry), Sophie Giannamore (The L Word, Generation Q), Chris Messina (Away We Go),  Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) and Golden Globe Nominee John Turturro (The Night Of), who also serves as an executive producer.

The film is the feature directorial debut of Czech-born filmmaker Martin Krejci and premiered at Karlovy Vary Film Festival last year and went on to play at Fantastic Fest. Vertical will release on-demand and digital release on October 30th. Blue Fox Entertainment is handling international sales on the film.

The deal was negotiated by Peter Jarowey and Josh Spector at Vertical with Endeavor Content on behalf of the filmmakers.

Synopsis:
Paul lives an isolated life with his father in upstate New York. He finds making friends impossible due to a rare condition he has known as congenital hypertrichosis – an affliction that causes an abnormal amount of hair growth all over his face and body. On his 13th birthday, Paul receives a mysterious gift that compels him to run away and seek out the mother he has never known.

“The line from the script which set my heart ablaze was a piece of dialogue between a man in his last days and a boy who’s just starting on this path called life. The boy asks the old man, ‘How hard is life gonna be?’ The old man hesitates, then says, ‘Well, its never gonna be truly easy, but life is gonna be hard on us no matter what, so we shouldn’t be mean to ourselves.’ I’m thrilled that Vertical Entertainment has opened the gate for our quirky story to find an audience with open hearts & minds,” said Director Martin Krejci.

The True Adventures of Wolfboy was directed by Martin Krejci; written by Olivia Dufault; produced by Kimberly Steward, Josh Godfrey, Lauren Beck, Declan Baldwin and Benjamin Blake; cinematography by Andrew Droz Palermo; edited by Joseph Krings; music composed by Nick Urata. The film was produced by K Period Media and Big Indie Pictures.
