Epic Trailer For Marvel’s THE RISE OF ULTRAMAN Comic Released Online

The first issue of Marvel’s new five-issue miniseries The Rise of Ultraman is now on sale, and Marvel also released an exciting new trailer for the book on their official YouTube channel. The trailer is presented in the form of a motion comic, as it showcases various animated panels from The Rise of Ultraman accompanied by an epic soundtrack. It then ends with a montage of covers for the series, giving us a look at some of the hideous giant monsters our hero will be facing throughout the miniseries. The interior artwork for the comic was provided by Michael Cho and Francesco Manna, and their work can be viewed throughout the trailer.

Written by Kyle Higgins and Matthew Groom, The Rise of Ultraman will serve as an origin story for the size-changing superhero, as the organisation known as the United Science Patrol learns that he may be Earth’s only hope against an invading force of giant kaiju monsters. Note that although one of the variant covers depicts Spider-Man riding on Ultraman’s shoulder, we know that The Rise of Ultraman takes place outside of the regular 616 continuity, so we probably won’t be seeing stories with Ultraman crossing over with established Marvel heroes for the time being. Either way, as audiences in the West are unlikely to be familiar with Ultraman, this new series is a great way for newcomers to be introduced to the character.

The Ultraman franchise has earned over $17 billion dollars in Asian territories, so it’s a big deal that a major US publisher like Marvel were able to secure the rights to publish Ultraman comics, and we expect many more Ultraman stories to be coming from the House of Ideas in the near future. Until then, you can purchase the digital editions of the first issue of The Rise of Ultraman from ComiXology and Marvel’s official website, while physical editions will also be available at your local comic book store.
