Russell Crowe’s UNHINGED Tops Weekend Box Office with $4M

Road rage thriller Unhinged with Russell Crowe is the first new wide release movie in the U.S. since March. And today we got word the film topped the box office over the weekend, snagging a reported $4M from roughly 1,800 screens.
Here’s the Weekend Box Office top 10 via Box-Office Mojo:
- Unhinged – $4 million
- The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run – $550,000
- Words on Bathroom Walls – $462,000
- The Goonies – $260,000
- Cut Throat City – $240,000
- The Empire Strikes Back – $230,000
- Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula – $210,000
- Jurassic Park – $180,000
- Back to the Future – $140,000
- 10.The Tax Collector – $121,000

Rated R for strong violent content, and language throughout, the film sports an 84% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Russell Crowe makes for a compulsively watchable villain, but Unhinged lacks enough intelligence or depth to get sufficient mileage out of its pulpy premise.
