This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday, Heather Langenkamp!

On this day in horror history, scream queen Heather Langenkamp was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1964.

Best known for her role as Nancy Thompson in Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street and Chuck Russell’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. She also starred as herself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.

Langenkamp also starred on the ABC sitcoms Growing Pains and Just the Ten of Us. Her other roles include Moto in J. J. Abrams’ sci-fi film Star Trek Into Darkness, and Donna Boone in Truth or Dare.

She served as executive producer and narrator on the horror documentary films Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy and I Am Nancy.

Langenkamp is the co-owner of the make-up FX firm AFX Studio which has designed and manufactured award-winning make-up effects for film and television. She has worked as the special makeup effects coordinator for films such as Dawn of the Dead and The Cabin in the Woods.
