Video: First Footage from THE CUPHEAD SHOW Emerges from Annecy Film Fest

We got news last Summer that Netflix was working on an animated TV series based on the nightmarish (and nightmarishly difficult) video game Cuphead. We still don’t have a release date, but the first footage from The Cuphead Show hit the internet from the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (wrapping this Saturday in Annecy, France).
Thanks to the folks at What’s on Netflix for putting this item on our radar, along with the first confirmed voice actors for The Cuphead Show:
Frank Todaro (known for voicing Starscream in Transformers) is Mugman; Tru Valentino (known for Hot Streets) is Cuphead; Joe Hanna (known for Looper) is Elder Kettle; and Luke Millington-Drake (known for Best Friend Fix).

We still don’t have a release date or a trailer, but we’ll keep you updated as details emerge. Stay tuned and check back often.

Cuphead is a run and gun video game developed and published by the Canadian video game developer StudioMDHR in 2017. The game was inspired by the rubber hose style of animation used in cartoons of the 1930s, such as the work of Fleischer Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios, and sought to emulate their subversive and surrealist qualities. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998. It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the International Animated Film Association.
