This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday, JEEPERS CREEPERS Star Justin Long

On this day in horror history, underrated Jeepers Creepers and Drag Me to Hell actor/comedian Justin Long was born in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1978.

Best known for his roles in the above-mentioned classic fright flicks, Long has also starred in such genre films as After.Life with Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci, Kevin Smith’s Tusk and Yoga Hosers, and most recently, Roar Uthaug’s The Wave.

On top of that, he is also known for such non-genre flicks as Galaxy Quest, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Waiting…, Accepted, Idiocracy, Live Free or Die Hard, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Youth in Revolt, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

And for anyone out there keeping score at home, he has dated Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body, Mean Girls) and Drew Barrymore (Scream, Santa Clarita Diet).

Jeepers Creepers begins after making a horrific discovery in the basement of an old abandoned church, Darry and his sister Trish watch their routine road trip home from college turn into a heart-stopping race for their lives. They find themselves the chosen prey of an indestructible force that relentlessly pursues them and gives a new and chilling meaning to the old song “Jeepers Creepers.”

Rated R for terror violence/gore, language and brief nudity, the classic fright flick sports a 46% rating over on on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Jeepers Creepers has a promising start. Unfortunately, the tension and suspense quickly deflates into genre cliches as movie goes on.
