Minions Dress Up As Universal Monsters For New Wave Of Halloween Funko Pops
Minions have dominated popular culture for the last decade, and whether you like them or loathe them (and let’s face it, most of us loathe them), they won’t be going away anytime soon. Therefore, instead of venting about how the annoying, diminutive freaks are contributing to the downfall of Western civilization, the best thing we can do is to embrace Minion culture by spending our hard-earned money on Minion products. Because consumerism always wins in the end.
Anyway, although Halloween is still a few months away, Funko recently announced a new line of Halloween-themed Minion Pops for their new Funkoween event, which began on May 18. Why they’re holding this event in May is beyond us, but either way, if you’ve ever been desperate to own Funko Pop figures of Minions dressed up as the Universal Monsters, you’re in luck. Seeing as both Illumination Studios and the Despicable Me franchise are owned by Universal, it was probably only a matter of time before the Minions crossed over with the Universal Monsters in some capacity.
The figures include Minions disguised as Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, the Bride of Frankenstein, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. They will all be available in August, so if, for some unfathomable reason, you want to add these monstrosities to your collection, you can pre-order them here. And while we thought we were truly fed up with the Minions, we will admit that looking at the pictures of these new Halloween figures with them in their silly monster costumes did make us smile, so now we can forgive them for all the times they’ve annoyed us over the past ten years.
