Lionsgate has pushed back director Darren Lynn Bousman’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw with Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson a full year to May 21, 2021.
It was meant to open TODAY. Ouch.
Lionsgate’s Damon Wolf said about the year-long delay: “As audiences from around the world head back to theaters, most will return feeling that specialness that only the traditional theatrical experience can offer. Lionsgate is thrilled to present such a wide variety of films with many more to come. From great branded IP to unique stories from new voices, the terrifying reimagined and some truly hysterical comedy, we join with our partners in exhibition in welcoming movie lovers back to their favorite theaters with something special for everyone.”
It’s directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and produced by Oren Koules and Mark Burg from a screenplay written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger from a story by Chris Rock based on the original film written by James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
It’s been slapped with an R-rating for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, pervasive language, some sexual references, and brief drug use.
It stars Chris Rock with Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols. Lionsgate will now unleash the semi-reboot into theaters on May 21, 2021.
