Kevin Smith Reveals Dream Cast for Abandoned SPAWN Spin-Off Series SAM & TWITCH
For those of you out there that might not remember, at one point in time writer-director Kevin Smith was going to turn Todd McFarlane’s Sam & Twitch into a series. But that never happened. And today Smith talked a bit about the abandoned series including his dream casting for Twitch.
Speaking with ComicBook.com Smith revealed: “… Our Twitch would have been either a newcomer or in my heart it was David Dastmalchian, that’s who I wanted as Twitch.”

For the record, Jeremy Renner will play Twitch in Blumhouse and Todd McFarlane’s reboot.
Smith went on to say that the rights have reverted back to McFarlane. He also spoke a bit about how he came to be involved in the series and why it fell apart.

He says: “I came into that because BBC had licensed it. The woman who was running BBC had worked at Dick Wolf’s company….at one point Dick Wolf wanted to do a Sam & Twitch show. Dick Wolf as we know does Law & Order … this and that, but no comic book stuff, so I was like ‘WOW!’ We were meant to be the show that took over when Orphan Black finished. We weren’t gonna be as good as Orphan Black, but when Orphan Black’s run was done the next show they wanted to stick into the slot was going to be, perhaps, Sam & Twitch, and then BBC cut their budgets.”
