RIP Mort Drucker: Mad Magazine Caricature Artist Passed Away at 91

Word came in late last night that Mort Drucker, long-time Mad Magazine contributor, passed away at the age of 91. His caricatures and parodies became instantly recognizable and inspired countless artists who followed him. The New York Times reports:

“From the early 1960s on, nearly every issue of Mad included a movie parody, and before Mr. Ducker retired he had illustrated 238, more than half of them. The last one, The Chronic-Ills of Yawnia: Prince Thespian, appeared in 2008. In 2015, Mr. Drucker was the first winner of the National Society of Cartoonists’ Medal of Honor for lifetime achievement. In 2017, he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.”

All of us here at Dread Central send our sincerest condolences to Drucker’s fans, freinds, and family. He was an inspiration whose influence will be felt for generations to come.
