Fox on the Fringe With Abrams

JJ Abrams' new show Fringe goes to FoxThough the details are vague right now, Daily Variety got word this morning that Fox has picked up a new show from “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams called “Fringe”, which he co-created with his Star Trek prequel brain trust Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci (The Transformers).

”Fringe” is being called a lot of things, but at its core it sounds like a semi-paranoid medical thriller show with elements of Altered States and Scanners, sans head explosions (we think). The show will focus on the brilliant but probably crazy character of William Bishop, a research scientist with an estranged son and the female FBI agent who brings them together. There will be elements of both the paranormal and straight-up medical horrors throughout.

“It’s definitely meant to scare the hell out of you, but it’s also meant to make you laugh… It pushes all the buttons of things we loved from our childhood.” Abrams told the trade. Expect to hear about more projects for Abrams since he signed his big contract with Warner Bros. recently, and keep it here for more on “Fringe” as it comes to light!
