The inmates at The Asylum must be in an extraterrestrial sort of mood of late what with their American Battleship mockbustering the blockbuster Battleship and the announcement of their newest found footage flick Alien Origins.
Let’s start with the just announced Alien Origins. Ever since the mockbuster Paranormal Entity, The Asylum has released a slew of found footage flicks with supernatural leanings. This one will mark the company’s first foray into found footage aliens.
Synopsis:
Recently discovered footage from a lost military expedition exposes a horrifying truth about the genesis of life on earth.
That’s all we know at the moment. No cast or crew listings because, obviously, it is 100% legitimate found footage as is the case with all of their found footage movies, and the fact that I’ve received emails from two actresses I’ve seen die in some of these past films was clearly a message from beyond the grave and something I probably should have rolled a camera on as part of my own supernatural found footage movie.
Alien Origin will land on DVD/VOD on June 12th.
Now what you’ve all been waiting for… the American Battleship trailer. It’s just like Peter Berg’s mega budget board game-inspired Navy vs. seafaring aliens blockbuster except shot on an Asylum budget and with Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, and Liam Neeson replaced with New Jack City’s Mario Van Peebles and Action Jackson’s Carl Weathers. That might actually be an improvement.
The trailer for the mockbuster due on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD is rather light on extraterrestrial aquatic invader footage but heavy on the battleship.
We still like our poster concept better.
