GOODNIGHT MOMMY Directors Almost Made FRIDAY THE 13TH

Goodnight Mommy and The Lodge directors Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz were guests on last week’s episode of Adam Green and Joe Lynch’s podcast The Movie Crypt and were asked if they would ever do a Friday the 13th movie.

Fiala responded: “They approached us. They did… but actually… the good old Austrian way of pitching and we’re, like, the worst pitchers, we immediately told the producers, ‘We know somebody else who might be much better for the job.’ So, yeah… We’re very honest and I think we honestly meant we believe we’re not the best people for this job. If we feel that, we would always say that, and that’s why we never have any jobs.”

Rated R for disturbing violent content and some nudity, Goodnight Mommy centers on nine-year-old twin boys in a lonesome house in the countryside who welcome their mother home after her reconstructive surgery, but with her face wrapped in bandages, and her demeanor distant, they grow suspicious of her identity and start to doubt that she is actually their mother.
