This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Elijah Wood

Born on this day in 1981: actor and producer Elijah Wood

Wood has a lengthy and varied career, which began when he was seven, with role in Paula Abdul’s “Forever Your Girl” music video. Along the way, he has had minor roles in Back to the Future II, and is probably best known for his roles in the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Casual fans may not know that Wood is a huge genre fan. On the acting side, he has appeared in The Good Son, discovering the new psychopathic side of his cousin; The Faculty, as a student who suspects his teachers may be aliens; the remake of Maniac, as the eponymous villain; a concert pianist whose return to the stage is marred by a terrorist threat in Grand Piano; and Cooties, about tainted chicken nuggets turning an elementary school into a den of zombies.

In addition to acting, Wood formed SpectreVision, a production company that specializes in genre fare. Some of the films produced by SpectreVision include Mandy, A Girl Walks Home at Night, Daniel Isn’t Real, and The Color Out of Space.
