Shyamalan Hopes SERVANT Runs 60 Episodes & 6 Seasons

Split and Glass writer-director M. Night Shyamalan’s stellar Apple series Servant has already been given the go-ahead for season 2 – before the first season even began airing.

And today we hear that Shyamalan hopes the series runs 60 episodes over six seasons.

Specifically, Shyamalan tells THR: “It’s a little bit of a Catch-22. You need to learn it as it goes, but you need to have your endpoint. At least, that’s how I approached this. I know the endpoint. We’re moving through the episodes and thinking about them that way as we’re going through. A dream version is we get 60 episodes, and I get to tell you the full story through 60. “

Personally, I’ve loved the first five episodes of the series thus far – especially the first episode which Shyamalan himself directed. And as a new father myself, the series is super scary.

And I’m not alone. Stephen King praised the series over on Twitter, calling it “Extremely creepy and totally involving. Two episodes and I’m hooked.”

And the show has an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that says: “Though Servant’s slithering mystery often wanders into dark, crowded corners, its claustrophobic atmosphere, and powerful performances build enough tension to keep viewers hooked.”

Created by Tony Basgallop (Inside Men, What Remains, 24: Live Another Day) the “extremely creepy” series follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.

Shyamalan serves as executive producer and directs some episodes of the series, which stars Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Nell Tiger Free (Too Old To Die Young), and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows).

Shyamalan and Basgallop executive produce with Ashwin Rajan, Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black, and Steve Tisch. Taylor Latham and Patrick Markey serve as co-executive producers.
