Jason Bateman To Direct PANIC ROOM-Style Thriller SHUT IN

Jason Bateman has become quite the director lately with HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider being just one of the genre projects he has in the works.

And today we’re hearing from Deadline that Bateman will be returning to our beloved genre soon with a new New Line thriller called Shut In.

The spec script by first-time scribe Melanie Toast is an edgy contained thriller ala Panic Room, in which a single mother is held captive by her violent ex, with her two young children left at risk. She must do everything to protect them and survive.

Bateman won’t star in the movie but he will produce along with Michael Costigan, Dan Farah, Roy Lee, and Dallas Sonnier. Amanda Presmyk, Danielle Cox, Andrew Farah, and Miri Yoon are executive producers while Richard Brener, Daria Cercek, and Josh Mack oversee for New Line.

The film is all set to begin production in the first quarter of 2020.

Ralph Anderson, Cynthia Erivo as Holly Gibney, Bill Camp as Howie Gold, Julianne Nicholson as Glory Maitland, Paddy Considine as Claude Bolton, and Mare Winningham as Jeannie Anderson.

The series will premiere on HBO on January 12, 2020.
