Well, it looks like Tom Jane is back in the Stephen King game as today we’ve learned via Deadline that Jane will produce a film based on King’s inter-dimensional car novel From A Buick 8.
Jane will produce along with Courtney Lauren Penn (Altitude) and Renegade Entertainment.
Jane and Penn said: “From a Buick 8 is a thrilling and deeply personal project for us, as we explore a uniquely structured mystery spanning the 70s, 80s, 90s and post-9/11 era, centered around a son’s search for the truth behind his father’s sudden death. Along with first love and grief, terrifying and philosophic mysteries are spawned by inexplicable events connected to the titular car. We are honored that Stephen is supporting our vision of his brilliant, provocative novel.”
For those of you out there that might not know, Stephen King’s novel From A Buick 8 centers around the rural town of Statler, Pennsylvania where the state police have kept a mysterious 1954 Buick Roadmaster in the shed behind the barracks for over twenty years. When the town is plagued by strange and supernatural events, it turns out the Buick isn’t what it seems to be.
This film will mark the fourth Stephen King movie Tom Jane has been a part of after starring in Zak Hilditch’s1922, Frank Darabont’s The Mist, and Lawrence Kasdan’s Dreamcatcher.
From A Buick 8 was once set to be a film directed by George A. Romero (The Dark Half, Creepshow) and The Boy writer William Brent Bell. Are you excited for Tom Jane’s upcoming adaptation? Let us know below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
