Harrison Ford to Lead THE STAIRCASE Series

Back in 2004, Jean-Xavier de Lestrade released a docuseries called The Staircase centering around the trial of novelist Michael Peterson, who was accused of murdering his wife in 2001. Netflix released an updated 13-episode series in 2018 that everyone and their sister has seen.

And today we’ve learned via Variety that none other than Harrison Ford is being eyed to take the lead role in the upcoming series adaptation from Annapurna Television. In an interesting bit of trivia, if Ford does take the lead in The Staircase it will mark the first regular TV role of his career.

Anyhow, in addition to starring, Ford will executive produce the series along with Antonio Campos (The Sinner, The Punisher) who will also write. Annapurna Television produces.

The series is currently being shopped to networks and streaming services so hopefully, we’ll be hearing more on the matter sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, the last time Ford visited out beloved genre was in Cast Away and Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis and screenwriter Clark Gregg’s What Lies Beneath co-starring Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns). DreamWorks Pictures released the ghost story thriller into theaters back on July 21, 2000.
