Today in 1962: Cary Elwes was born.

Elwes may always be best remembered for his role in The Princess Bride. However, Elwes got his horror cred by starring in James Wan’s masterful Saw. He returned to the role of Dr. Lawrence Gordon in Saw: The Final Chapter, and has had roles in horror films large and small over his 30+ year career: Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Crush, Shadow of the Vampire, Hellgate, and Psych:9. You can next catch him in the upcoming remake of Black Christmas.

On the TV side, Elwes played the mayor in the most recent season of Stranger Things. He also played a new boss to Agent Scully in Season 9 of The X-Files.
