The Hangman returns, and guess who’s bringing him to you?! Yes, you’re in the right place. Just in time for Halloween, Dread Central will be hosting a free screening of The Gallows Act II, the latest film from the horror masters at Blumhouse Productions. Screening will take place on Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 pm at Hollywood’s swanky Arena Cinelounge Sunset (6464 Sunset Boulevard; 323-924-1644). Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing, who wrote and directed the first Gallows, will be in attendance for the Q&A, hosted by Dread Central’s newly-minted Co-Editor in Chief Josh Millican.
Act II is a sequel to 2015 hit The Gallows, although the sequel features fresh characters and a different setting, so the viewer doesn’t need to see the first film (though you probably saw this hit creepfest anyway!) to appreciate the scares. The latest story follows aspiring actress/vlogger Auna Rue (Ema Horvath), who transfers to a prestigious new school. Trouble starts when Auna logs onto a sinister website, where she’s soon trapped in the malevolent world of a cursed stage play, The Gallows. After performing a passage from the play for her tiny online fan base, Auna instantly achieves the stardom she seeks—as well as a twisted challenge from the deadly spirit known as The Hangman.
