Babies and Straw

Creepy babies! Are creepy baby dolls and evil spiritual forces your bag? If so then get on over to the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon on the 7th of October to catch the world premiere of Wishbaby. This title spins a yarn about a youth who learns how to create an enchanted (or cursed) doll that may be able to solve all her woes. Not everything is as it seems as this young woman pushes an evil force into the world!

Director Stephen W. Parsons revealed to Fangoria, “My vision for Wishbaby was to deliver a gritty and disturbing tale with contemporary urban characters, situations and dialogue that the youth audience can relate to. A microbudget film such as this can never match Hollywood for scale and special effects, so I concentrated my efforts on creating a consistent and believable setting where supernatural horror is never more than a footstep away. Terrific performances from the entire cast and our creepy doll, along with quality music from the UK urban scene, have elevated the project beyond my initial hopes.”

In the same article Fangoria also informed the masses that Bob Keen’s remake of Straw Hill is steadily overcoming the problems it had getting off the ground. The flick that will star Martin Kemp and former Playmate Victoria Silvstedt has undergone a major redux scriptwise that will send it off in a different direction than the original.

Exactly how different this new version will be is not clear, but we may find out soon as the crew is hoping to start production sometime next year.
