FANGORIA’S CASUALTY FRIDAY: Why Horror Is An Ageless Genre

One certain, nearly universal element of horror fans is that they are loyal and they respect their elders. Only in horror do genre actors get more respect and veneration with age and work well into their later years due to popular fan demand. In her 70’s, Lynne Shaye is stealing scenes in the Insidious franchise and carrying films like Room for Rent. And we fans were lucky enough to see Sid Haig appear in 3 From Hell at the age of 80. One of the prime examples of the longevity of horror actors is Bela Lugosi, who was working on Plan 9 From Outer Space when he died at the age of 73.

Age is the key topic of discussion on this week’s episode of FANGORIA’s Casualty Friday. The crew discusses whether or not horror actors get better with age and Felissa Rose explains why, after 30 years in the business, she feels she’s doing the best work of her career today. The trio also discuss how they all got started as actors in the biz and their personal tips for career longevity. We also find out the fun story behind why Kane Hodder respects Brad Pitt for breaking his arm on the set of Seven.
