IT: CHAPTER TWO Director Says Hate Crime Scene Was Essential

With IT: Chapter Two set to float into theaters on September 6th, director Andy Muscietti has been making the rounds to promote the film. In a recent sit-down with Entertainment Weekly discussed an infamous scene in Stephen King’s novel that was omitted from the made-for-TV miniseries in 1990: The murder of Adrian Mellon, a gay man who is the victim of a hate crime.

Muschietti has already revealed that Adrian Mellon does appear in the upcoming sequel, and here’s what he told EW:

In my vision of the movie, Adrian Mellon was always there. The impact of that event in my mind was always very deep. For me, there wasn’t a choice for that.
