Robert Englund Down for Another ELM STREET Movie But Wants Kevin Bacon to Play Freddy

Robert Englund, the actor synonymous with Nightmare on Elm Street villain Freddy Krueger, would be down to make another film in the franchise. But if he’s not cast as the “Springwood Slasher”, he’d be willing to pass the torch to a specific actor: Kevin Bacon!

Here’s what Englund told Dead Entertainment on YouTube:

“I’m not Freddy anymore, you guys. I could do one more, probably. If you guys held my ankles down, if you put yogurt on my butt, if you shot me up with Vitamin C…But here’s the thing, I can’t do eight more, you guys. So, we need a new actor that you guys believe in, and trust, and love, that can go the distance.”

He continues:

“The rumor I’ve heard that I like is Kevin Bacon. Kevin loves horror. He’s a real actor. He’s a character actor. We need someone like that to take it on, and redo it, and redo it exploiting all of the new technology.”

It’s important to keep in mind that there are currently no immediate plans for a new Nightmare reboot, though rumors persist New Line is looking to revive the franchise by 2021. We’ll see what develops!
