DEEP BLUE SEA 3 Is In the Works

Now that 47 Meters Down: Uncaged has been released (to extremely mixed reviews) you might be wondering about the next shark-themed horror movies coming down the pipeline. Today brings word that a third Deep Blue Sea flick is in the works–and might be swimming directly to Netflix. All of this was gleaned from a new report in Production Weekly.

Notice Netflix is listed as a producer.

The original Deep Blue Sea was directed by Renny Harlin and released in 1999. Deep Blue Sea 2 was a forgettable made-for-TV/straight to DVD affair directed by Darin Scott and released in 2018. You can check out the synopsis and trailer for the later below.

Synopsis:
A shark conservationist is hired as a consultant on a top-secret project on genetically-enhanced sharks, funded by a pharmaceutical billionaire. But soon the highly intelligent super-sharks turn on their masters and begin to pick them off one by one.
