New MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE Comic Series Announced By Marvel

With Morbius the Living Vampire set to finally be given his own movie next year, Marvel have announced that he will also be the star of a new solo comic. While it’s currently unclear if this will be a limited or ongoing series, we do know that Morbius the Living Vampire will be written by Vita Ayala and drawn by Marcelo Ferreira, and that it will feature the once human scientist Michael Morbius coming within reach of a cure for his vampirism. Nothing worthwhile is easy, however, and the path ahead will be littered with dangerous obstacles for the antihero to overcome if he wants to finally regain his humanity. The series was announced in a new video posted on Marvel’s YouTube channel, which you can view here (the announcement comes at to 1:47).

Although Disney will not profit directly from the Morbius movie, the film will still generate a great deal of interest around the character, so it makes sense for Marvel, a Disney-owed subsidiary, to be releasing a new Morbius comic at this time. You may recall that Marvel published a ton of new Venom comics around the time that Sony released their Venom movie in cinemas last year, so this is an approach which clearly benefits both parties. Therefore, we can expect Morbius to make a ton more comic appearances leading up to the release of his film on July 31, 2020.

The first issue of Morbius the Living Vampire will arrive in comic stores in November, and you can view Ryan Brown’s stunning cover artwork below.
