Jordan Peele Has No Interest in Directing BLADE Reboot

We don’t know who will be directing the reboot of Marvel’s Blade (announced at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend) but we know who won’t be: Jordan Peele. Though he wasn’t officially offered the gig, the filmmaker who rocketed to success with Get Out and Us says he has no interest in doing remakes at this time.

Here’s what he told Rolling Stone:

“So many of those properties — it’s a childhood dream to be able to essentially see what you saw in your imagination as a child, watching or reading or whatever you were doing with that stuff. It’s a filmmaker’s dream. But you know, I feel like I only have so much time. I have a lot of stories to tell, and it just doesn’t feel right. It just doesn’t feel right. I’m a comic book and graphic novel appreciator, but I can’t call myself a true fanboy.”

In other words: He’s putting his efforts into telling original stories–at least as a director. Peele is producing the upcoming Candyman remake (but not directing).
