Chris Rock’s SAW Reboot Set to Go Before Cameras Next Week

It’s been over a month since we announced that there’s a new Saw reboot in the works, based on a screenplay penned by Chris Rock (yes, that Chris Rock)! Today, Saw reboot director Darren Lynn Bousman has announced (via Twitter) that the film is gearing up to begin filming next week!

“Start shooting the new Saw film in just a few days. Something I never thought I be typing again! Gotta be honest. No one is ready for the insanity about to bleed out on screen!”

Variety previously reported:

Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, states, “When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in. Saw is one of the highest-grossing horror franchises of all time and it’s one of Lionsgate’s most successful film series. This upcoming film will still be as mind bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”

There’s not much more to report at the moment, but the new Saw already has a target release date of October 23rd, 2020. No word yet on whether or not OG Jigsaw actor Tobin Bell is participating. Stay tuned and check back often for all Saw reboot related news as details emerge.
