Here’s What the Actor Who Played Danny Torrance in THE SHINING Thinks of the Trailer for DOCTOR SLEEP

Danny Lloyd played young Danny Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, released in 1980. He never pursued acting as an adult and makes his living as a biology professor, rarely granting interviews. Still, the former child-star sat down with THR recently to discuss Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining arriving in theaters this November.

Here’s what he thought about the trailer, released last week:

“I was surprised… It looked really good. I was curious since there is a fine line they have to walk with Stephen King and Stanley Kubrick. It looks like they found a way to pay tribute to both.”

Lloyd is no doubt referring to the fact that Stephen King’s novel ended with the Overlook Hotel exploding, while it remained standing in Kubrick’s movie. Of course, there’s always a chance that what looks like new footage of The Overlook is just a dream or vision. Time will tell.

Check out the synopsis and trailer for Doctor Sleep below.

Synopsis:
Struggling with alcoholism, Danny Torrance remains traumatized by the sinister events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. He soon finds a new purpose when he forms a psychic connection with a girl who shares his shining ability.

Mike Flanagan directs Doctor Sleep, which he also adapted into a screenplay. The film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Ewan McGregor, and Jacob Tremblay. Look for it in US theaters beginning November 8th.
